- Go to the printer manufacturer's Web site and search for print drivers, printer drivers or drivers.
- Find the right driver for your printer model.
- Download and install the driver [source: Adobe]. You may have to restart the computer after installing the new driver.
Reinstalling the driver software that came with the printer is fairly easy. Simply insert the disc in your disc drive and follow the instructions that appear on your screen [source: Microsoft].
You can update your driver using Windows Update. Once it's set up, Windows Update will download and install recommended updates for your printer automatically [source: Microsoft]. Here's what how to set it up:
- Press Start in the bottom left corner of your screen. A popup menu will appear.
- Type Update in the Search bar, and a list of results will appear. Depending on your version of Windows, you may have to select All Programs from the first popup menu. Click Windows Update and in the left pane, click Check for updates. Depending on your version of Windows, you may have to select Select the updates you want to install page, followed by clicking OK. Before you begin
Driver updates for Windows 10, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:
Update the device driver
In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the one you’d like to update.
Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
Select Update Driver.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Reinstall the device driver
In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.
Restart your PC.
Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
